The public yearns for the Donut Hole-der
Heyo - Happy Spring! I’m writing this from 38,000 feet above your heads (give or take a few miles depending on where you live). It’s been a surreal week and of exciting updates in the saga of the Donut Hole-der and I’m excited to share it with you
An update on preorders
I’ve received 49 preorders since I launched the campaign. Thanks to all of you who donated. Many were friends and family who felt obligated - but a few were actual strangers. Both are appreciated! It isn’t much, but it’s still fun.
Please please please share this with anyone who will listen and let’s get that number up to 54 or even 67! We can do it if we all work together.
The Dear Dunkin’ Documentary has Dropped!
A few months back, I was approached by Kaitlyn and Elanor - two Seniors at Champlain College. Their capstone project for their film making class was to create a 15 minute documentary about something they were inspired about, and for some reason they chose me. I was flattered and excited to work with them on this amazing documentary that makes me look totally normal and sane.
They did a phenomenal job and it truly means a lot to me. You can check it out here:
I’m a conference speaker guy now
I also had the honor of speaking at Hardware FYI’s first annual Kinetic Conference this week. In attendance were some of the leaders in the hardware space across manufacturing, design, and AI. And me, a clown 🤡.
I got to speak about the serious work that goes down behind the scenes to create silly products like the Burrito Pop and Donut Hole-der and I think it went really well! Around 200 folks were in attendance and I was super nervous. I’ve been asked to give this talk down at Onshape’s HQ as well, so now I am a conference speaker guy.
I’ve got a new website
Since Dunkin’ is ghosting me, I decided to launch www.donutholeder.com (and also www.donutholder.com) and retool the site to better focus on the product features. Thanks to reddit for eviscerating my original website!
Never one to be satisfied, I’m now working on an even better version of this site with fancy 3D models, graphs, a color picker and more. It’s been fun to design this and I can’t wait to share it with the world when it’s ready. Here’s a sneak peak at the new page:
What’s next?
I’m going to crank out a few dozen prototypes to mail off to a few of you who preordered, then try my luck at social media stuff. I’m terrified of TikTok and borderline Instagram Illiterate so I may be hiring someone far younger and savvier than I am. If you think you’re the one for the job-hit me up!
Pontoon season is quickly approaching and it seems unlikely that my dream trade will happen, but a boy can dream.
